Yesterday was the 17th anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan. Does anyone remember why the US invaded? I do. Less than a month before, America was attacked in a false flag operation that was blamed on Osama bin Laden (a CIA asset) and a group of mostly Saudi box-cutter wielding terrorists, many of whom were later shown to be alive. There wasn't a single Afghan named among the terrorists, but that didn't matter because George Bush said "We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them."
So I thought at the time the whole point of the war was to get Osama bin Laden. Clearly now that's not the case. Osama bin Laden was pretty much "captured" and thrown into the sea, sight unseen, when you'd think that if he were really in charge of Al-quaeda they'd at least question his ass. But the fact of the matter is, Osama bin Laden was known to be on dialysis at the time of the September 11th attacks and the only people who were allowed to fly out of the country in the immediate aftermath of those attacks, again unquestioned, were the bin Laden family. One of whom just happened to have been meeting with the Bush Sr. and his Carlyle Group at the time.
