Thank God for BIG Miracles!
Both the mainstream and alternative news media have a tendency to concentrate on the negative, which I suppose is only natural, because in most cases no news is good news. I recognize that one of my own biggest faults is that I'm a worry-wart, and as someone once said, worry is like praying for what you hope doesn't happen (because that's what you're focusing on). Identifying and facing up to real challenges is constructive, but after that it's best to focus on the positive and be grateful for all victories, large and small. As far as I'm concerned there have been a lot of HUGE victories lately. The mainstream news doesn't seem to want to acknowledge it, so I will.
Just over the weekend, there was a tornado emergency in an area with a population in the millions (Wichita, KS and vicinity). There were no tornado deaths in Kansas. That's not just a minor miracle, that's a HUGE miracle. A hospital got hit with a tornado in Creston, Iowa. There were no serious injuries. That's amazing! Entire towns were laid to waste, but only six people were killed. I'm very sorry for these deaths and the material devastation, but it so obviously could have been much, much worse. A sincere thank you to all the angels, both human and "not of this earth," who rushed in to help.

European economy is tanking ... will America follow?
You all know what I think. Here are some articles that were posted on What Really Happened:
27 Statistics About The European Economic Crisis That Are Almost Too Crazy To Believe
-- "Most Americans do not realize this, but the European banking system is absolutely enormous. It is nearly four times the size that the U.S. banking system is. When the European banking system crashes (and it will) it is going to reverberate around the globe."

Gift economies
I've been thinking about alternatives to money lately. Thoreau once wrote, "There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root."
We all know the love of money is the root of all evil, don't we? Usury and the like. The tendency to hoard possessions instead of sharing them freely. Despite what we may think (these days and in this particular Western culture), sharing is a very natural way for human beings to live and many cultures have survived on "gift economies" for thousands of years. Think of Eskimo Potlatches, or this idea of "Dama" from Mali:
Here's a view from a guy I assume is a Western "prepper" about sharing our gifts of knowledge:
Here's an amusing introduction to "Freeconomy" (which sounds a lot like what I posted about what the Greeks have been doing in the wake of their economic catastrophe):
Just some things to think about, if our own (unsustainable) economy ever does go down the toilet, which I think will happen sooner than most believe.

Piano Dog
This was so cute I had to save it by putting it on my blog. Hat tip to Les Visible, who shared it in a comment on Smoking Mirrors.

9-11: If there's nothing to hide, why the shoddy investigations?
When complex crimes are committed, some of the most telling evidence comes from the cover-up.
Everyone should have suspected something was fishy when Ruby shot Oswald before he got a chance to talk. What most people don't know is that the debris from the World Trade Center was heavily guarded and then "cleaned up" before it had "a chance to talk."
This article, written by the editor of Fire Engineering Magazine, came out soon after the 9/11/01 attacks. It was one of the first that really made me question what happened that day: Coverup at Ground Zero: Selling Out the Investigation. Destruction and Removal of the Evidence by Bill Manning
Most people don't know that far more money was spent investigating Bill Clinton's sex life than ever was spent investigating the crime of the century. Did you know that a tape made by air traffic controllers describing the events was crushed by a "quality-assurance manager there" who then "shredded the tape and dropped the pieces into different trash cans around the building, according to a report made public today by the inspector general of the Transportation Department." -- NY Times 5/6/04
And what's with the black boxes? All commercial airplanes are required to have flight data recorders and cockpit voice recorders. Obviously they are contained in units designed to be indestructible. Why did the FBI and the 9/11 Commission Report say, "The CVRs and FDRs from American 11 and United 175 were not found" [ http://911research.wtc7.net/planes/evidence/blackboxes.html ]?
Move along folks, nothing to see here ...

Angels working double time
Remember when I said my favorite line from the Color Purple was "I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it." Well, I imagine it makes Him a bit indignant when people don't notice His miracles, as well. And there's been a lot of them lately. Here are some that have recently come to my attention:
No deaths.
What the heck is this???
No deaths reported as of yet.
Thanks again, light workers! Just when I feel really depressed, thinking it would take a miracle to pull this blind, flea bitten planet out of the dumpster, you show me what angel teamwork can do ... :D
