I would be surprised if there wasn't some kind of chaotic situation. So here is a video from Magic Prepper with a last-minute checklist, and if you're worried about a long time without electricity, another video from DIY Prepper.
I remember "Occupy Sandy" which happened a year after "Occupy Wall Street." It was just a bunch of regular people, and they did so much better helping those affected by Superstorm Sandy than the government ever did. Apperantly that is also the case for Helene. Video from Wrangler Star:
Hurricane Katrina slammed into New Orleans on August 29, 2005. I remember it well, because that's my birthday ... which I share with then Senator John McCain. Of course we celebrated it differently. I was living in a homeless shelter and he was having cake with sitting President George W. Bush. The deliberate neglect of the people affected by it was mind-boggling. Help was turned away. Communication lines were cut. There was a concerted effort to clear the 9th ward. Frankly, that's what Asheville, NC reminds me of. It also reminds me of Lahaina, HI and East Palestine, OH. This lady, from Squirrel Tribe, has done a lot of work on the train derailment. Here's what she has to say about Asheville, and what reallygraceful has to say about what's going on in Georgia (again with the orange smoke!):
This is where I come to vent about what they don't talk about in the mainstream news. I've also written articles on Indymedia and made quite a few radio commentaries.
I believe it's up to each and every one of us to contribute our own special talents to make this world a better place for all of us. You can still read my old stuff on X at jodypaulson (I was locked out). My current account is at greentaralady.
Grandfather, look at our brokenness. We know that in all creation only the human family has strayed from the sacred way. We know that we are the ones who are divided and we are the ones who must come back together to walk in the sacred way. Grandfather, sacred one, teach us love, compassion, and honor that we may heal the earth and heal each other.
