Mainstream Media Ignores 132 Arrests at White House

I've been away from the computer for some time (I have to go to the library just to check my email) due to the Christmas holiday and some particularly nasty weather. I didn't even know about this ... one of the largest mass detentions in recent years. I would have remembered it if I'd heard about it in the mainstream news (I was actually arrested with Daniel Ellsberg in another mass arrest a few years ago in San Francisco).

Over a hundred US veterans opposed to US wars in Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world, and their civilian supporters, chained and tied themselves to the White House fence during an early snowstorm to say enough is enough.

According to this link, "No major US news media reported on the demonstration or the arrests. It was blacked out of the New York Times, blacked out of the Philadelphia Inquirer, blacked out in the Los Angeles Times, blacked out of the Wall Street Journal, and even blacked out of the capital's local daily, the Washington Post."

Why I don't trust Wikileaks

I agree with Mike Rivero's assessment of these red flags:

1) Julian Assange keeps insisting there was no 9-11 conspiracy.

2) Julian Assange included a claim that Osama bin Laden is still alive and controlling Al Qaeda. (Someone with access to Assage's knowledge should know better)

3) WikiLeaks tried to claim that weapons of mass destruction had been found in Iraq, justifying the invasion.

4) There is nothing negative about Israel in all these diplomatic messages, an impossibility given the lethal Israeli attack on the Aid Flotilla last May. That suggests who Assange really works for.

BuildingWhat? Awareness Campaign enters Second Phase

Thanks to the generosity of thousands of supporters across the globe, the BuildingWhat? TV ad campaign was able to raise $100,000 and reach a remarkable 1 million viewers in the New York Metropolitan Area during the month of November, most of them seeing footage of World Trade Center Building 7’s destruction for the first time ever.

The campaign also received the media attention it deserved in the form of an appearance on FOX News’ Geraldo At Large in front of a national audience of 1 million more viewers.

Let's pat down the "underwear bomber" story ...

Thousands of people traveling today will be forced to parade naked in front of TSA employees, subjecting their bodies to backscatter ionizing radiation, or else submit themselves to be groped. Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds writes well about the state of affairs here: Paying To Be Raped

Remember the justification for this obnoxious violation of our civil rights? The "underwear bomber"? Let's examine his particular case, which happened just before Congress was set to consider extending some odious provisions of the thoroughly unconstitutional Patriot Act.

Unlike the average U.S. traveler, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was on the watch list. His father told the US Embassy he was a security threat. However, there was no bomb-sniffing dog present when he boarded the plane with no luggage. According to eye-witness Detroit lawyer Kurt Haskell, a well-dressed Indian man helped the accused bomber board the plane despite the fact that he had no passport.

“While Mutallab was poorly dressed, his friend was dressed in an expensive suit, Haskell said. He says the suited man asked ticket agents whether Mutallab could board without a passport. “The guy said, ‘He’s from Sudan and we do this all the time,’” reported the Michigan Live news website.

Gee, I wonder if any of this has to do with the fact that one of the main clients of Former Department of Homeland Security Chief, Michael Chertoff, happens to be Rapiscan (yep, that's their name, I'm not making it up) -- the company that makes those backscatter ionizing radiation machines that display the naked human body in so much detail you can tell if a man is circumcised or whether a woman shaves her pubic hair.

Lest we forget, here's the 4th amendment to the Constitution of the United States:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

A law to outlaw gardening? (!)

http://educate-yourself.org/cn/stops510now16nov10.shtml

Just so you know, I don't consider myself subject to any government that would outlaw and subjugate people's rights to grow their own food!

I finally know what's wrong with me ...

I've got O.D.D.! ("oppositional defiant disorder")

from http://www.networkworld.com/community/blog/people-who-resist-authority-stand-privacy-cou:

"According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), which is published by the American Psychiatric Association, nonconformity and freethinking is a mental illness labeled "oppositional defiant disorder" or ODD. If psychiatrists follow the Fourth Edition of DSM diagnosis guidelines, people who stand up for privacy and freedom might be labeled as mentally ill.

U.S.G.W.O. reports that it has confirmed "basically that anyone who disobeys authority or even questions authority is now considered mentally ill and can be thrown in a prison-like mental institution under tax payers dollars." I haven't read the entire book, but U.S.G.W.O. states that according to the psychiatric manual the following people would be diagnosed as having ODD:

* Freethinkers
* Constitutionalists
* Oath Keepers
* Nonconformists
* Peaceful Activists
* Peaceful Resistors
* Those who partake in Civil Disobedience
* Those that question Authority
* Highly creative artists"

Ideas for a better economy

I'm always looking for solutions to what ails us, and there's no question our current economic system is unsustainable, un-Constitutional and contemptible. I read this article the other day and was impressed -- starting a "Gift Circle" would go a long way towards weening people off the "money grid":

Feed the good, not the evil

I'll be the first to admit I'm no financial wizard, and I don't understand much about new revelations over the foreclosure scandal, but I can truthfully say if people had listened to my broke ass five years ago they'd be swimming in money right now. I told people on my radio show that G. W. Bush wanted to loot Social Security by privatizing it, and now it turns out that I was right ... if Bush had put all that money in the stock market Social Security would be broke by now. I told people to invest in silver when it was less than $5 an ounce ... now it's at $23 dollars an ounce! (Ironically, I made very little money myself with this knowledge, because I've been living hand-to-mouth for 10 years.)

Guess what? This is still my advice. Buy silver. And if you've got any money in the bank, get it out and put it someplace decent, like a credit union or something. Circumstances have made me a bit of a hypocrite on this point, but I know I'm giving good advice even if I've been too broke or incapacitated to take it myself. These big banks are evil, and it doesn't take a genius to know the whole system is dangerously toxic. If you do business with them, no matter how little, you're feeding them. Don't feed the evil, feed the good!

The same goes with the food you eat. I know it's inconvenient to look at labels and actually think about where your food comes from, but if you don't you might (inadvertently) be feeding the mindset and corporations that are currently destroying the planet.

I'll tell you one thing, we're being lied to. First off, the environmental disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is most definitely not over:
BP's Environmental Disaster: Fishermen Report Louisiana Bays Filled With Oil

And what's this? Cholera is killing Haitians in the 21st century? How come only a fraction of foreign aid (that ex-President Clinton is somehow in charge of) went towards getting clean water for people to drink, and much is being used to push evil Monsanto genetically modified seeds? Rich, greedy people profiting from aid to the poor? NO....! Say it ain't so!!!!
Cholera Epidemic: Toxic Drinking Water Killing Haitians

I'm so fed up with crap like this. I'm even more fed up with the otherwise good people who seem to be too blind, stupid or ignorant to figure this stuff out. But then I remind myself that when I first started voting, I voted Republican.

We feed what we focus on. Focus on what is truly precious in your life. That's my good advice for the day.

Some recent revelations ...

I have long believed prisoners at Guantanamo Bay were being used as human guinea pigs.* Now it turns out I was right.

Another thing I found out today was that one of the most evil corporations in the world, Monsanto, recently bought one of the other most evil corporations in the world, Xe (formerly known as Blackwater -- you know, the murdering mercenaries used on Afghans, Iraqis, and Hurricane Katrina victims). Now they're using them to spy on anti-GM (Genetically Modified) food activists.

Well, I hope you all have a great weekend.

* That and using forced confessions as legal ammunition supporting the official story of 9-11 and other lies ... look, you don't use torture to get the truth out of someone, you use it to get them to say what you want them to say.

We could learn a lot from Chile

Like most people, I was riveted and inspired by the joyous rescue of the 33 Chilean miners yesterday. Yet I couldn't help but make some comparisons ... why didn't we have these guys cap the oil gusher in the Gulf of Mexico? Chile did everything right that the U.S. did wrong when it came to addressing disaster.

First of all, they accepted outside help. They had several contingency plans and there was actually a friendly competition between different firms as to who could drill the escape route first. This was all done in the light of day instead of like how BP did everything, including somehow enlisting the U.S. Coast Guard, to chase away anyone who might be so curious as to know what the hell they were doing to fix one of the worst environmental catastrophes in history.

In recent months, Chile has been exemplary in showing the importance of good preparation. Remember the earthquake they had earlier this year? It measured 8.8 on the Richter scale, 501 times stronger than the quake that devastated Haiti. Yet Haiti lost a quarter million people while Chile's death toll was in the hundreds. That shows how important building codes are. That's why you regulate companies instead of having them write the rule books for you. BP pretty much wrote their own regulations. See where that got us?

Also, as heartwarming as it was to watch the round-the-clock coverage of miners being rescued yesterday (much better than watching a senate debate involving "Witch" O'Donnell in Delaware), I can't help but notice that 13 NATO troops were killed in Afghanistan in the past couple days. This kind of thing is being treated like so much white noise on news channels like MSNBC and CNN. Makes you wonder ...

Some recent videos

Here's one of the latest short videos extolling 9-11 truth:
9/11: The Unidentified Murder Weapons

Here's a recent talk given by Ken O'Keefe (of the Mavi Marmara) recorded by my friend from Portland Indymedia, Joe Anybody. This is a very impressive guy.

Part 1:

Part 2:

A wake-up request

Here's a poem referred to in a recent article called Come Wake Me Up by William Rivers Pitt (who often writes at truthout). Somehow it seems especially relevant for the times we find ourselves in.

Summons by Robert Francis

Keep me from going to sleep too soon
Or if I go to sleep too soon
Come wake me up. Come any hour
Of night. Come whistling up the road.
Stomp on the porch. Bang on the door.
Make me get out of bed and come
And let you in and light a light.
Tell me the northern lights are on
And make me look. Or tell me clouds
Are doing something to the moon
They never did before, and show me.
See that I see. Talk to me till
I'm half as wide awake as you
And start to dress wondering why
I ever went to bed at all.
Tell me the walking is superb.
Not only tell me but persuade me.
You know I'm not too hard persuaded.

Photoshopped terror

Am I seeing things, or do the eyes of University of Texas gunman, "Colton J. Tooley" look identical to those of Mohammad Atta: http://www.legitgov.org/How-Did-UT-Shooter-Tooley-Get-Mohammed-Attas-Eyes-Eyebrows.

Way back when I had my own computer account I kept an impressive collection of obvious examples of media fakery like this. Here's one I'm particularly found of: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6894934/

Suffice to say, trust me on this, the media (and by that I mean big name media like TIME and Newsweek) have been known to totally make up stories, photoshop entire fake scenes and use staged photos on their covers for use in propaganda. Remember Jessica Lynch? Now, look at these compared photos of Osama bin Laden: http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/osamatape2.html?q=osamatape2.html

The reality, folks, is that Osama bin Laden is dead. Don't you think that if he were alive we would have found him by now, if that were (as George W. Bush said) the reason we went into Afghanistan in the first place? How many billions of dollars have we spent trying to catch this guy? Couldn't someone have just put a price on his head and be done with it? No, because the whole thing is fake, there's a lot of money for some pretty shady businesses (including drug traffickers) to make over that nasty little quagmire. But now we're hearing from "Osama" again.

Americans -- citizens of all nations -- please don't assume that just because something's in the mainstream news, that makes it true.

The tools of terrorism:

Children's artwork and posters of Martin Luther King, Jr.

From the Defending Dissent Foundation:
"Doors were kicked in during the early morning raids in Minneapolis and Chicago and personal belongings including childrens' artwork, posters of Martin Luther King, Jr, were taken, as well as cell phones, computers and boxes of paper records. About a dozen activists from Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan have been subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury. The FBI emphasized that no arrests were made, but that evidence was being collected regarding the possible 'material support' of terrorism. The 'material support' statute is so broadly written that it can, and does, include international peace-building activities that are not in any way intended to support terrorism."

Why isn't the White House responding? I guess they didn't do much when 23 year-old American Rachel Corrie was crushed with an Israeli bulldozer, either. Or when Israelis killed 34 American sailors aboard the USS Liberty.

Iranian president mentions elephant in the room

by calling for a UN investigation of 9-11, and US delegates (plus a few of their friends) run away in phony indignation:

U.N. delegates walk out during Iranian president's speech

Be sure to listen to his actual speech at the above link. Makes sense to me. I don't know enough about Ahmadinejad to have formed an reliable opinion about him, but whenever he's mentioned it always seems he's unfairly demonized.

This is pretty big news. For every delegate who left there are quite a few who stayed ... and the world is a heck of a lot bigger than the US and her allies.

Silence is the Death of Liberty

[Written by GW at Washington's Blog; inspired by the poem First They Came by Martin Niemöller, which was written about the Nazis. Originally written in 2007, GW updated this poem with an additional verse about assassinations.]

First they tortured a U.S. citizen and gang member ...
I remained silent;
I wasn't a criminal

Then they tortured a U.S. citizen, whistleblower and navy veteran ...
I remained silent;
I wasn't a whistleblower

Then they locked up an attorney for representing accused criminals ...
I remained silent;
I wasn't a defense attorney

Then they arrested a young father walking with his son simply because he told Dick Cheney that he disagreed with his policies ...
I remained silent;
I've never talked to an important politician

Then they said an entertainer should be killed because she questioned the government's version of an important historical event ...
I remained silent;
I wasn't an entertainer

Then they arrested people for demanding that Congress hold the President to the Constitution ...
I did not speak out;
I've never protested in Washington

Then they arrested a man for holding a sign ...
I held my tongue;
I've never held that kind of sign

Then they broke a minister's leg because he wanted to speak at a public event ...
I said nothing;
I wasn't a religious leader

Then they shot a student with a taser gun and arrested him for asking a question of a politician at a public event ...
I remained silent;
I wasn't a student

Then they declared that they could label U.S. citizens as "unlawful enemy combatants" and imprison them indefinitely - and even assassinate them - all without trial ...
I remained silent;
I assumed I wasn't on a list

When they came for me,
Everyone was silent;
there was no one left to speak out.

Let's get over the divisiveness

I think it's long been the Mass Media's job to keep people divided -- along racial, political and even religious lines. I think that last is what explains the recent flap there's been about the Ground Zero Mosque. Just another psy-op to fan the flames between Muslims and non-Muslim Americans.

I remember Jon Stewart calling out Glenn Beck and Fox News about this guy, and started thinking. Now take a look at this article:

Corexit still being sprayed, people are getting sick

GW on Washington's blog confirms that Corexit, the toxic oil dispersant, is still being sprayed in the Gulf. Corexit is seriously depleting the amount of oxygen in the area, and is known to rupture red blood cells. Now there's a new illness being reported around the Gulf: the "Blue Flu" or the "BP Flu" where people are suffering from symptoms associated with the lack of oxygen -- like blue lips, headaches, etc.

No one's talking about it in the regular news, as far as I'm aware. I find it keenly ironic that yesterday all they could talk about was how New Orleans was recovering from Hurricane Katrina, while failing to address a similar catastrophe in Pakistan going on *right now*, and an environmental health disaster going on because of Corexit spraying *right now* in the Gulf of Mexico!

The trouble with knowing where your food comes from

Yesterday I watched a TV news story about the disgusting conditions some egg-laying hens lived in, with footage from an undercover animal rights activist. This set me off on a long mental rant ... I'm a lacto-ovo-vegetarian and that makes it hard enough to plan meals in provincial Indiana. Now it was clear that I'd have to give up non-free-range eggs as well. That means no egg and cheese wake-up wraps at Dunkin Donuts, one of my staples when I go out for the day.

It occurred to me that no regular, decent human being would subject their own hens to that sickening kind of treatment if they raised their own eggs. But they don't -- and unfortunately, due to their general lack of awareness, they are perfectly willing to *buy* eggs others supply them from hens so treated. This gives people without a conscience a distinct advantage -- they save a substantial amount of money by shoving as many hens in a cage as possible and skating by with the least expense towards health and sanitation.

This is why Wal-Mart, factory food tastes like shit compared to food raised on a family farm. I remember eating free-range eggs at a health-conscious friend's house. They taste three times better than regular eggs, but they're expensive as hell. There's no way Dunkin Donuts uses free-range eggs to make their 99-cent wake-up wraps. So, yet again, I'm confronted with a situation where, because of the general unawareness of an otherwise well-meaning public, I'm going to suffer -- in this case, give up eating eggs when I go out. If *everyone* were aware of how animals are treated on factory farms, we'd have a lot more vegetarian restaurants and people would demand free-range eggs, etc. But they aren't. They don't want to know and God knows there are times when I don't blame them.

It occurred to me that we're now at a level of technology where, if only the world were run by average, normal, decent human beings, we would be living in paradise. But we're not. We've relegated the planet to a bunch of psychopaths without a conscience. Because they save a few pennies by doing horrendous things that others won't, they always come out on top. This is true in the food industry, in politics, and in the energy business.

I'll never forget a cartoon I saw outside a professor's office. It showed a CEO at his desk, looking like the cat that swallowed the canary, saying, "You want oil? We own the oil fields. You want coal? We own the coal mines. You want solar power...?" (Next panel) "Uh ... solar power isn't feasible."

So there you go. That's how these rats do it. They thrust themselves between the people and what they need, posing as indispensable middlemen. You want food? You gotta go through us. You want energy? You gotta go through us. You want God? You gotta go through us. They are the ultimate interlopers, running interference between the people and the Source. Their enemy is awareness.

Now what am I going to have for breakfast? :(

More on unsafe seafood

"The US government, and even President Obama himself, have said that Gulf seafood is safe to eat in the wake of the massive BP oil spill.

"But an admission from the federal government that it hasn't been testing Gulf seafood for toxic heavy metals, and news that fishermen are being forced to sign waivers making them liable for toxins in their catch, suggest not everyone is convinced of the safety of Gulf seafood."

Don't eat the shrimp

Gulf Shrimpers Find Oil In Reopened Fishing Areas. Governnment Says "Shut Up". Sierra Club Alleges Areas Were Solely Reopened to Limit BP's Liability

The Government Lies to the American People About the Safety of Gulf Seafood

None of this comes to any surprise to me. When the shrimpers themselves are saying, "look, you don't actually expect us to sell this stuff for human consumption, do you???" you know there's something terribly wrong with the shrimp, and if BP could get NOAA and the Coast Guard to cover their ass, they can get the FDA to do the same thing.

Learn about the dollar

I really enjoyed the 1988 John Carpenter film "They Live" (starring my favorite pro-wrestler, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper). The most memorable moment, to me, was when he first put on magic sunglasses that supposedly allow him to see the world "as it really is." He saw all the billboards and advertisements transform into commands like "CONSUME," "MARRY AND REPRODUCE," and "OBEY." But the thing that really struck a chord in me was when he looked down at his money and it said, "THIS IS YOUR GOD."

I knew intuitively that, in fact, there are symbols on the dollar bill designed to do just that -- to trick human beings into transferring their incalculable spiritual power into something material that can be manipulated and controlled. I recently found a movie at Vigilant Citizen explaining just how this was done:

Eye of the Phoenix: Secrets of the Dollar Bill

Highly recommended for those of you who love esoteric mysteries like "the Da Vinci code" and "National Treasure," etc...

Israeli airstrike injures 42 in Gaza

http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=304370

Just thought I'd mention this, because, after all, the name of my blog is "What They Don't Tell You."

I noticed this story was well-featured on Spanish-speaking TV, and (not knowing Spanish very well) rushed over to CNN, only to find the top story was about "the new Bin Laden" (some American-born cleric, I can't find anything about it on their website now) and there wasn't a single mention of the attack on Gaza. Just another reminder that yes, news blackouts still exist, even in the age of Obama.

Some links to share

I'm basically just touching base here, haven't posted for a while ...

I noticed Les Visible has a particularly good post out on Smoking Mirrors: http://smokingmirrors.blogspot.com/2010/07/maybe-they-are-right-despite-evidence.html

This concise article about "mind-control" technology came from one of the comments to that post: Bio-electromagnetic Weapons: The ultimate weapon

I've been thinking a lot about "mind-control" programs for the past couple of days, came across some good links about MKUltra. As I've mentioned before on this blog, I seem to know and somehow get surrounded by people who really "fit the bill" as far as being a possible victim of this kind of program ... people with dissociative disorder, with parents involved in military intelligence, who obsess over the strangest things (including solitaire!) ... and I believe I may well be one of those people experimented on as discussed in the "Bio electromagnetic" article. It is my sincere hope and prayer that this evil will soon be exposed and eradicated.

Our Planet is Being Poisoned

How's that for a paranoid-sounding, over-the-top blog post title? Yet, consider:

Censored Gulf news: People bleeding internally, millions poisoned says 'EPA whistleblower'

Government’s Expert Witness: Over 42 million gallons of dispersant used during BP oil disaster
This was reported by the New Orleans paper, the Times Picayune. That figure seems unbelievable -- that would be over 4 times the amount of oil spilled in the Exxon Valdez disaster from the 1990's. As the title in my earlier post declares, this dispersant is 4 times more toxic than oil itself. And it's basically being used to hide the oil. So now instead of being a big black glob floating on top of the water, the oil is broken up into tiny particles permeating the entire Gulf, including the deepest depths, so there's no way the fish can get away from it. I ask you, how will we know when it's safe to actually eat those fish? Or will the FDA become BP's "sock puppets" like what EPA whistleblower Mark Kaufman alleges the EPA and NOAA have become? And what's going to happen when it rains?

Here's a recent article about Depleted Uranium and a newscast about Chemtrails. If this isn't "poisoning the planet," what is???

and tells us it's raining.

Honestly, I can't get over how absolutely absurd things have gotten. What does mainstream media/BP/the shadow government expect us to swallow next?? How can it be over 80 days from the "spill" and still we don't have things under control? Can't you put a giant condom or water balloon-type thing over it? Or siphon it off with a giant hose or something? Excuse me, I just can't buy the idea that there's nothing to be done but let the pipe gush when all you have to do is keep the oil separate from clean water.

It's like when the California Dept. of Agriculture wanted to spray only heavily populated areas with untested chemicals ... to battle a non-threatening moth that supposedly menaced apple trees. It's like they are inventing excuses to introduce poisons to the air and water. Am I being paranoid here? Well, watch this clip, where we discover the only reason BP introduced "dispersants" (which happen to be toxic) was for cosmetics ...

Free to go

This video starts out pretty slow, but if you stick through it to the end and realize this is about a very real person and the only reason most Americans wouldn't find it shocking is because of the color of this man's skin ... it makes you realize the deplorable depths the United States has been willing to sink. Don't think they don't torture white, non-Muslim people, either. It's being done right now, surreptitiously.

Something's really gone wrong with our armed forces ...

Anyone remember the recent "Operation Vigilant Guard" exercises in Chicago? That's when the Illinois national guard trained for urban warfare in case of a national emergency. There's been a lot of exercises like that lately, to my recollection -- Portland and Toledo come to mind. It turns out, though, that in Chicago, we actually had foreign troops observing those exercises.

Polish Troops Train To Take On American “Terrorists”

WTF??? It hasn't escaped my memory that very recently (just before the volcano in Iceland screwed up all flights in Europe this past spring, remember?) pretty much half the government of Poland (including its president) were killed in a plane crash. So we're not dealing with the most stable, democratically elected country, here.

And what's going on with the Coast Guard? I actually used to be in the Coast Guard, when it was under the Department of Transportation and not the Department of Homeland Security. I'm pretty sure it's not amongst the Coast Guard's duties to be a foreign oil company's private security and public relations arm. Yet here are the kinds of stories I'm hearing about:

Journalists Covering BP Spill Now Face Felonies, $40K Fines

"Journalists who come too close to oil spill clean-up efforts without permission could find themselves facing a $40,000 fine and even one to five years in prison under a new rule instituted by the Coast Guard late last week."
and:
US Coast Guard Reserve Petty Officer in-charge of PR also works for BP PR agency

and if reporters want to cover the BP oil spill, they have to somehow become "embedded" with the Coast Guard.

What the hell???

How deep does the rabbit hole go?

When you start asking questions most people are afraid to broach even in their own minds, you often end up with more questions than when you started. Which is probably why most people are afraid of asking these kinds of questions. Because most of us hate unanswered questions. We want certainty in our lives ... it makes us uncomfortable to not have ready answers to things we feel are important.

Then there's those questions that we'd rather not ask ourselves because we secretly know the answer, and we don't like that answer. We're afraid of what that answer would mean. Sometimes that answer means we need to do something we'd rather not do. So we think it's better to just not ask the question.

I must admit I'm more willing to ask the first kind of question than the second kind. But the problem with those first kinds of question is they tend to lead us down "rabbit holes." Like Alice in Wonderland, you see something strange, your curiosity compels you to follow it, and what you find out makes you start questioning everything in your environment ... so now you find yourself literally surrounded by strangeness. This is a very uncomfortable position to be in, for most people. I won't exclude myself from that category, though since I struggle with Attention Deficit Disorder, I'm probably more used to handling the unexpected than most. I'm just not on my guard when it comes to holes. And I've always been impulsively curious.

Asking oneself about what really happened on Sept. 11 2001 can be the entry point to a very deep rabbit hole. [It also has aspects of the type of question I mention in the second paragraph, which makes it doubly hard for people to chew on.] How deep does the rabbit hole go? I don't know, I'm still exploring it, but I can tell you this much ... it goes beyond the 3 dimensions of space we deal with on an everyday basis.

I don't really know where I'm going with this post, or why I'm even posting it. It's just that ... I know I'm not alone concerning this issue, and for those who are struggling with it, I want to let you know that there's at least one person out there that knows how you feel.

Americans ignorant of why they celebrate the 4th of July

I know this is supposed to be funny, but this actually made me want to gag:

Don't forget about the "wars"

I put "wars" in quotation marks because they are really imperial occupations. But here are some reasons you shouldn't forget about them, though the mainstream media would have you look the other way:

Historic Victory at Oakland Port – Israeli Ship Blocked from Unloading

Once again Oakland activists/longshoremen show us how it's done.

"In a historic action and unprecedented action today, over 800 labor and community activists blocked the gates of the Oakland docks in the early morning hours, prompting longshore workers to refuse to cross the picketlines where they were scheduled to unload an Israeli ship.

"[...] Today’s Oakland action, in the sixth largest port in the United States, is the first of several protests and work stoppages planned around the world, including Norway, Sweden and South Africa. It is sure to inspire others to do the same."

I guess BP wants to kill off all the unemployed fishermen

... they hired to clean up the Gulf by telling them they'll be fired if they wear respirators on the job. That way they won't have to pay out so much in lawsuits ... all the people they've stripped of their livelihoods will be dead. Here's what Light Keeper has to say about the air quality around the Gulf: Serious Toxic Levels of VOC's all around Gulf Coast Region

-- oh, and get this! -- who are they putting in charge of administering BP's $20 billion fund for damage claims to economic victims of the Gulf oil spill? None other than Kenneth Feinberg, Special Master of the 9-11 Victims Compensation Fund! Here's the link at Kenny's Sideshow.

I'm telling you, this BP oil "spill" is looking more and more like 9-11 every day, especially the disastrously unsafe cleanup cover-up.

Why is BP still in charge of fixing things???

I agree with George Washington's assessment: Since BP has Broken Everything It Has Touched, We Must Remove BP from the Crime Scene and Let an International Team of Experts Fix This on BP's Dime.

Why would anyone in their right mind trust BP to fix their own mess in the most honest, efficient, environmentally-friendly way when clearly that might interfere with their bottom line -- indeed the bottom line of *any* corporation -- to make as much money as possible? Corporations don't have a conscience. Indeed the closest thing they come to one is a "responsibility to their shareholders" -- which is, I repeat, to make as much money as possible. So why is anyone surprised that BP would *lie* about how much oil is spilling into the Gulf, when they're the one to pay fines by the gallon? What happens when BP's ability to recover oil clashes with the most effective way to fix and/or clean the gusher? Which of these priorities will fall by the wayside?

Of course BP should foot the bill. But to put them in charge of the cleanup -- well, that's like putting a murderer in charge of cleaning up the crime scene before the evidence is gathered.

When BP spills coffee

If you haven't seen this video yet, it's pretty funny ... :)

Peter Sutherland -- BP, Goldman Sachs, & the Vatican

Whoa! I just read on George Washington's blog that the Chairman of Goldman Sachs was -- until last year -- also Chairman of BP. Someone commented that he's also been the Vatican's financial advisor since 2006. Talk about busy!

Interesting coincidence, isn't it, that all three of those institutions have been in the news lately for making a real big mess of things ...

Who was on Flight 77?

Those of you who have followed my posts over the years might be interested to know that yes, in fact, there was a brief point of time when I (kinda/sorta) accepted the "official" narrative of what happened on Sept. 11, 2001. I don't know if you remember, but just as with the Gulf oil spill, immediately after the disaster there were calls to the general public to send solutions that might fix what went wrong.

Believe it or not, I actually sent the airlines what I thought was a brilliant idea: why not outfit all commercial passenger planes with a remote control override? It would have worked kind of like Onstar's anti-theft vehicle slowdown system (which didn't exist at the time). If a hijacker took over a plane, you could override the manual controls and bring it down from the tower, preventing it from being used to crash into buildings.

Little did I know that this kind of technology had already been developed by Global Hawk, a remote controlled plane being used in Afghanistan. But I soon found out -- a guy named Peter made a project of researching just who was on the passenger list for Flight 77 -- the "plane" that supposedly hit the Pentagon. He posted his initial findings on the news wire for Indymedia.org.

"... Approximately 16 to 21 of the 58 passangers work at classified positions in the defense sector!!!! Look at how many of them are aerospace engineers. One is a lifetime CIA operative who works for veridian as an aerospace engineer, Yamnicky is his last name. The first passenger listed, Caswell, led a team of 100 scientists for the navy. Several work for Boeing and Raytheon on the Global Hawk in El Segundo, California.

"I think many people faked their deaths. Perhaps a remote control center was riding with these folks on the C130 transport plane many witnesses saw at the same time as the missile attack on the pentagon. Here's is the list of people in aerospace/defense/bush associates that were on the plane that disappeared (into the shadow gov?). I'm sorry this is a rough draft, these are all excerpts from AP, Boston Herald, W Post, NYT, and other mainstream sources. The passenger list must be scrutinized to figure out what happenned to the alleged flight 77."

-- [repost at http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2004/10/299484.shtml ]

Peter also mentions right-wing pundit Barbara Olson, wife of George W. Bush's lawyer, Ted Olson. Mrs. Olson supposedly called her husband from her cell phone during the hijacking. Mr. Olson's report of what she said provided the only evidence that "... American 77, which was said to have struck the Pentagon, had still been aloft after it had disappeared from FAA radar around 9:00 AM" and was the only account of the terrorists having used box-cutters.

Personally, I don't think Flight 77 hit the Pentagon at all. The hole in the Pentagon is too small for a Boeing 757 to have hit it, there was no sign of the wreckage of a Boeing 747 after impact, the only footage we have of what happened amounts to 6 ambiguous frames (this from the one of the most heavily monitored areas on the planet), the hairpin turn the plane was supposed to have taken would have been impossible considering the G-force it would have produced, not to mention the fact that the pilot was an amateur, and why didn't the plane just crash through the roof, anyway, instead of hitting a mostly deserted area of the Pentagon that had recently undergone renovations?

Please look into these anomalies -- and discuss them amongst your friends. We're still at war in Afghanistan because of what happened on 9-11, and I'm convinced that what we have been told is not the truth. Our troops and our country deserve nothing less.

Defenders of the Mavri Marmarra

Here is the remarkable account from Ken O'Keefe, former US Marine, Gulf War veteran, and survivor of the Mavi Marmara massacre:

Defenders of the Mavri Marmarra

"We had in our full possession, three completely disarmed and helpless commandos. These boys were at our mercy, they were out of reach of their fellow murderers, inside the ship and surrounded by 100 or more men. I looked into the eyes of all three of these boys and I can tell you they had the fear of God in them. They looked at us as if we were them, and I have no doubt they did not believe there was any way they would survive that day. They looked like frightened children in the face of an abusive father. But they did not face an enemy as ruthless as they."

Sorry, the world's still crazy ...

For the longest time, during the Bush administration, world events started taking such a bizarre turn I couldn't help but wonder if suddenly the majority of our population just went crazy. I mean, the assault on my country's most cherished rights and values was so blatant and outrageous ... and so many people were walking around blind to the ill logic and injustice of it all ... I felt so isolated.

"What's wrong with you people?!!" I wanted to yell. "This country doesn't torture people! This country doesn't roll over and give away its rights like Habeus Corpus and the 4th Amendment and resign itself to be corralled into Free Speech Zones and go to war over lies and let foreign nations dictate what we do ... etc... etc... etc...!!!" And yet more and more intolerably weird stuff kept flying at us, and more and more I felt closed off into the tiniest minority of people who were not only aware of this, but actually *cared*.

Then, finally, after years of frustration and hardship on my part, the rest of my countrymen seemed to wake up to the fact that the wars were hurting our economy, and maybe wiretaps and torture aren't such a good thing, and yeah this Bush guy is kind of a fuck-up -- it's time for a change.

So we got Obama in there, and for a while it seemed as though America (and the world) had regained a bit of its sanity. Sorry to disappoint you, folks. The world's still crazy.

Even though we know the war in Iraq was based on lies, it's still going on. Kids are still dying. Even though we still haven't caught bin Laden after almost a decade, we're still in Afghanistan, in fact, we've escalated the war. We've even expanded our aggression to Pakistan and Yemen. We've still got untried prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. We've allowed privately owned banks to loot the taxpayers without demanding any oversight. We've allowed BP to poison our Gulf Coast for 46 days and now we're even talking about nuking the damn place (isn't that a bit like saying, "your femoral artery is bleeding uncontrollably, we need to cauterize the wound by blowing off your leg"?!!)

And now it turns out that Israel illegally boarded a humanitarian aid ship, shot a 19-year old American in the head 4 times, and our government rushes to that country's defense???

Not long ago, I had a dream that I was the only one awake in a land filled with sleepwalkers doing incredibly dangerous things ... and getting away with them. I can't help but wonder if that dream isn't more real than what I'm experiencing now.

Israel guilty of piracy against humanitarian vessels

At least 9 activists have been killed, 50 wounded. No one disputes the unarmed boat boarded by armed Israelis was in international waters. I know at least one of the people with the flotilla -- Col. Ann Wright, who worked on Cindy Sheehan's congressional campaign a couple years ago. She is one of the finest human beings I've ever met, and that's saying a lot.

Once again Israel is playing the victim. You don't just board a ship, guns blazing, in international waters and not expect to be attacked! Despite the kidnapping of American activists on board, the Obama administration shows its true colors and blocks condemnation of Israeli Crimes at a UN Security Council meeting.

Remember the USS Liberty!

The power of water

Masaru Emoto has performed many studies on the power of water to visibly manifest human thought or intention. If you think about it, most religions and cultural traditions have some equivalent to "holy water." Mr. Emoto has conducted studies where he studied water that had been blessed or labeled with positive words had the ability to form beautiful crystals, but polluted, microwaved, or negatively labeled water did not have that ability. He photographed the results and published them in books like the Hidden Messages in Water. There are plenty of youtube clips online that try to reproduce the spirit of his results -- here's a neat one involving 30-day old cooked rice! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjfN3K_v1uY

What I'm getting at is that thoughts and intentions manifest vibration, and water is an excellent carrier for these vibrations. This might be too esoteric for some to believe, but I know it to be a fact. Science shows us the brain emits electromagnetic waves. Is it much of a stretch to think these waves can affect how water crystallizes?

There's a reason people all over the world, of every different race and religion, bless their food. It actually makes the food healthier. People all over the world, from the Hindus of the Ganges to the Catholics at Lourdes, believe in the spiritual healing properties of water. Can we heal unhealthy water with our own thoughts and intentions? I think so. Here's a group from New Zealand doing a water blessing ceremony.

Anyway, here's what Mr. Emoto says about the recent oil "spill":

let’s give energy of love and gratitude to all the living creatures in Mexico Gulf by praying like this.

To whales, dolphins, pelicans, fishes, shellfishes, planktons, corals, algae and all creatures ion Gulf of Mexico

I am sorry.

It's pretty stupid to sell out your intelligence ...

Erm, does anyone else see the folly of using private contractors to spy for the US military? This from the NY Times: U.S. Is Still Using Private Spy Ring, Despite Doubts

I'd say that's almost as dumb as using private companies to collect and count your votes for you (using non-transparent,proprietary software) if you want to have a true democracy. But I guess that's the mentality of the new United States, where our troops have been outnumbered by private contractors in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

Makes you wonder if we aren't losing control of our country, doesn't it?

No Justice, No Peace

It's been almost a decade since the world-changing events of 9-11. Over the years we have been shown time and again that the people in power at the time have lied repeatedly about things like weapons of mass destruction, yellowcake uranium and "Mission Accomplished." They have personally OK'd torture and signed bills and executive orders eviscerating our civil rights. Yet they themselves have never been held accountable, never had to testify under oath about what happened that day, despite some very suspicious actions:

Dick Cheney and Norman Mineta's testimony

Bush says he saw first plane hit the World Trade Center at Sarasota Photo Op

9-11-01: An interesting day for the President

Obama says we need to move forward. Does that mean we excuse the lies, the treasonous outing of undercover operatives for political gain, and simply not examine very suspicious behavior of the previous administration regarding the events of 9-11? Excuse me, crimes are, by their nature, always committed in the past. How can we move on where there is no justice for those who may have been hurt or killed by the previous administration's actions?

Xenoglossy in the news

Croatian teenager wakes up from a coma speaking fluent GERMAN

Compare this to a story in 2007 when a Czech speedway rider hit his head and woke up speaking perfect English (which he barely knew).

I wonder about cases like this. Is it possible to acquire a whole new set of abilities that one never learned in this lifetime? What does that mean?

The people have lost control of their government

Is it true, as this article implies, that no one cares?

I have said on one of my radio commentaries that I consider there are two wrong turns the US has made that still threaten to destroy it:

1) the enthronement of corporations
2) the establishment of the Federal Reserve

As the aforementioned article says, we've pretty much privatized this country right out of our control. "Right now in Afghanistan there are 104,000 Department of Defense contractors alongside 68,000 U.S. troops." What does it mean when we've handed over our own defenses to privately owned companies (Xe, Kellogg, Brown & Root)? Our own election system (Diebold, ES&S)? Our own monetary system?

We end up with a system where profits are privatized and losses are socialized, i.e., when the economy is good the rich party hardy, and when the piper must be paid the working class foots the bill with their taxes (and the inevitable cuts in social programs).

This is disgusting. How much longer are we going to put up with this?

Al Qaeda

When you read or hear news pertaining to "Al Qaeda," please keep former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook's words in mind:

"The truth is, there is no Islamic army or terrorist group called Al Qaida. And any informed intelligence officer knows this. But there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an identified entity representing the 'devil' only in order to drive the TV watcher to accept a unified international leadership for a war against terrorism. The country behind this propaganda is the US . . ."

Who killed John O'Neill?

In one of the seemingly hundreds of amazing "coincidences" circling the events of Sept. 11, 2001, America's top expert on Osama bin Laden was killed on his second day of the job -- as head of security at the World Trade Center. His name was John O'Neill.

Only two weeks before, Mr. O'Neill had quit his job as deputy director at the FBI. He was reportedly disgusted with the Bush administration blocking his investigations of bin Laden. He actually went public with this information -- he told french authors Charles Brisard and Guillaume Dasquie (who wrote the book Forbidden Truth) "The main obstacles to investigate Islamic terrorism were US oil corporate interests, and the role played by Saudi Arabia in it."

So, who hired O'Neill to head security at the twin towers? A guy named Jerome Hauer -- the Managing Director of Kroll Associates. I'll tell you something else about Mr. Hauer. He was also a national security advisor with the National Institute of Health, and on Sept. 11, 2001 he advised the White House to take Cipro, a drug that fights anthrax.

Just who has ties to Kroll Associates and Jerome Hauer? To find out, I highly recommend the docudrama "Who killed John O'Neill?" If you can get past the painfully self-indulgent first 15 minutes or so, the facts start coming fast and furious and what began as a bad art film morphs into one of the best "follow the money" investigations of what really happened on Sept. 11, 2001. You'll want your notebook with you because the writer names names and he's done his homework.

Nasty stuff about US torture comes to light

First off, US Recants Claims on "High-Value" Detainee Abu Zubaydah

"He was the first detainee captured after 9/11 who was subjected to nearly a dozen brutal torture techniques, which included waterboarding, and was the catalyst, the public has been told, behind the Bush administration's "enhanced interrogation" program. Former Vice President Dick Cheney has publicly admitted that personally approved of Zubaydah's waterboarding.

"His torture was videotaped and the tapes later destroyed. The destruction of 90 videotapes of his interrogations is the focus of a high-level criminal investigation being conducted by John Durham, a federal prosecutor appointed special counsel in 2008 by then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey."

... So, Dick Cheney personally approved of the torture of a guy who, according to the article, the government now admits "did not have 'any direct role in or advance knowledge of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001,' and was neither a 'member' of al-Qaeda nor 'formally' identified with the terrorist organization. The government now claims Zubaydah is being detained based on his 'actions' as an 'affiliate' of al-Qaeda."

This man was waterboarded 83 times. I guess I'd confess to being al-Qaeda if I was tortured like that, too. This is how we got evidence about 9-11 terror suspects. Now take a look at this article from the London Times:

George W. Bush 'knew Guantanamo prisoners were innocent'

This accusation was made by Lawrence Wilkerson, a top aide to Colin Powell, who was then Secretary of State. Do we need any clearer evidence that Bush and Cheney are war criminals that tortured people they knew were innocent to prop up bogus claims about 9-11 and support their push for war with Iraq? As one guy on 9-11 blogger commented, "This isn’t just evil. This is James Bond super villain evil."

There is no right or left, only right and wrong.

Asking me if I'm a Democrat or a Republican is like asking a vegan how she likes her eggs -- do I prefer my Fascism slick and sneaky or hard-boiled and in my face?

Watching political punditry on the mainstream news is like watching a Punch and Judy puppet show. We're being distracted by a couple of annoying arguing puppets, who are really controlled by the right and left hands of the same guy, while his partner weaves through the crowd to pick our pockets.

One thing I wish Americans would wake up to is the fact that our two major parties are being run by the same guys, and things are set up for us to think that we have a choice, when really it's not much of a choice at all. It should be clear by now that though Obama promised to end the war and close down Guantanamo, Gitmo is still open for business and we have even more troops assigned to Afghanistan. Sure, he managed to pass a health care reform bill, but with control of the house, senate and executive you'd think the Democrats could have done away with the parasitical insurance companies. Instead, they practically let the insurance companies write the bill -- making themselves mandatory.

Let's face it, there is no true voice for progressives within the Democratic party, just as there is no true voice for real conservatism within the Republican party. Both parties are corrupt to the core with corporate interests. If we're going to solve this mess our country's in, we're going to have to find a way to introduce real choice into our political system -- because choosing between Democrat and Republican is like choosing between Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
